Ford Motor Company/Variety Sunshine Coach Program & Fund
Variety Sunshine Coaches provide transportation to treatment, therapy, education, and recreation - for some children, a Variety Sunshine Coach is the gateway to a world filled with hope, adventure and discovery.
Through generous support of the Ford Motor Company, the Variety Sunshine Coach Program was born nearly 40 years ago and currently has over 8,250 coaches on the road worldwide as a means to literally bring the “shut-in child” out into the sunshine. This wonderful program has transported at least 55 million special-needs children to treatment, therapy, education, and the larger world.
Sunshine Coach Sponsors take pride in knowing that their contributions assist countless children in need in their own community. At the same time, they know that the vans are like rolling billboards, giving valuable exposure to each sponsor’s name as they make their daily rounds transporting children.
Some of our Past Sunshine Coach recipients in the Greater Houston area include:
Aldine Y.O.U.T.H.,
Avondale House (2 vans - 1999 recipient),
